Inscription bleow title reads: To Tankerville Chamberlayne Esq. of Cranbury Park, Hampshire. This picture is respectfully dedicated by his Obedient Servant, John B. Day. Thomas Goldsworthy Dutton (c.1819-1891) was one of the finest lithographers of shipping scenes and ship portraits of the nineteenth century. He practised from premises in Fleet Street, London, as a lithographic artist, marine draughtsman and draughtsman on wood. His work was exhibited on many occassions at the Royal Society of British Artist's gallery in Suffolk. |
