One of a set of 32 soft-ground etching by John Laporte depicting rural scenes. John Laporte (1761- July 8,1839) was an English landscape painter and etcher. He lived and worked around London. He studied art under John Malchoir Barralet in Dublin or London. He worked as a drawing master and a private drawing teacher. He submitted work to the Royal Academy from 1785 and was a member of The Associated Artists in Watercolours. |
