Notes View of Vosne, also known as Vosne-Romanée, a commune in the Côte-d'Or department in Burgundy. The commune produces the regions most celebrated wines.

Running just below the image are the names of the various vineyards in the area.

From Jean Lavalle's Histoire et Statistique de la Vigne des Grands Vins de la Côte d'Or, a publication on the vineyards of Burgundy. The book was accompanied by only six images.

Jean, also known as Jules, Lavalle (1820-1880) was a doctor of medicine and natural sciences. He was a professor at the medical school of Dijon, and Director of the Botanical Garden in the city. Lavalle produced a number of botany texts.

Condition: Some light discolouration to margins, and a small tear to upper left margin.
