Image for the top of the 1821 Almanack showing the interior quad (with clock tower) of Emmanuel College. John Burford (fl. c. 1812 - 1850) British painter who was active in London from 1812 and in New York, 1829-c.1850, then in New Haven, c.1841. In 1816, Burford became active in partnership with Henry Aston Barker (Leicester Square, London), who specialised in panoramas. In 1824, he took over the business with his brother, Robert. Samuel Sparrow (fl. 1770 - 1806) Engraver, caricaturist, and publisher bases in Clarkenwell. |
