Scene from Zechariah Chapter 9, showing Christ riding on a donkey with his apostles walking behind him. Herman Weyen (active 1638-1669) was a printmaker and publisher of Flemish origins, who worked in Paris and became a major publisher of high-quality prints, mostly of devotional subjects. He married on 29 January 1640, when Israel Henriet, Laurent de la Hyre, Abraham Bosse and Grégoire Huret were his witnesses. He sold his stock as printer and publisher on 1 April 1669 to François Poilly. Condition: Trimmed and tipped to album page. Staining to lower right corner of sheet. |
