Notes Three-quarter length portrait of Gaston, Duke of Orléans, standing, and turned slightly to the left, whilst looking towards the viewer. He wears military attire, with a sash, and lace collar. In his right hand, he holds a baton, and he rests his left arm of a plumed helmet, which sits upon a table. Surrounding the portrait are various images relating to the sitter.

The portrait was featured in 'Les Portraits des Hommes Illustres Francois qui sont Peints dans la Galerie du Palais Cardinal de Richelieu' (1660).

Gaston, Duke of Orléans (1608 - 1660) was the third son of King Henry IV of France and Marie de Medici.

Condition: Some creasing to margins, slightly encroaching into image, and a few spots of light discolouration. Old tear repair in upper left corner of sheet. A couple of spots of foxing to image.
