Inscription below portrait in Latin. Portrait of Marius Ambrosius Capello, bishop of Antwerp, three-quarter length, seated in an arm-chair, wearing a biretta. Paulus Pontius (1603 - 1658) Pupil of Lucas Vorsterman, the elder; worked in Antwerp with Rubens and van Dyck. Succeeded Vorsterman in Rubens' studio in 1624. Abraham van Diepenbeeck (1596 - 1675) was a Flemish painter, glass-painter and designer of prints and tapestries. He was a pupil and assistant of Peter Paul Rubens. He worked in 's-Hertogenbosch, Antwerp, and in the early 1630s in Paris. Hollstein 62.I Condition: Light creasing to top right corner of image and sheet. |
