Count Johann Friedrich Struensee, German doctor and politician. In 1768 became private physician to Christian VII of Denmark, with whom he established himself as a favourite. In 1771 he became minister of state in Denmark and virtual dictator, even though he didn't speak the language. His revolutionary policy reforms which included the encouragement of education and the freeing of the press roused the nobles and clergy who arrested him in January 1772 and tried him for intrigue with the young queen of England - Caroline Matilda - and for conspiracy against the throne, found him guilty and had him executed.
