The plate was included in Gosden's stock-in-trade which was sold by the auctioneer George Jones on 17th January 1826 and the three following evenings. The plate was offered as Lot 23 with 245 impressions - 117 proofs, 119 prints and 9 coloured impressions. It is not clear whether they were included in the total of proofs, but 72 proof etchings "for colouring" were included. The lot sold to Evans for £5 5s. William Giller (c.1805 - c.1868) was a British artist and engraver. Giller was most known for his mezzotint and stipple engravings of sporting subjects and portraits.
