A portrait of Leoplold II in an oval made of leaves and topped with branches on a pedestal; two women sit either side, one standingholding an open book and one seated wearing a crown holding a sceptre in her right hand and weighing scales in her left. Leopold II ( 5 May 1747 – 1 March 1792), was Holy Roman Emperor and King of Hungary and Bohemia from 1790 to 1792, Archduke of Austria and Grand Duke of Tuscany from 1765 to 1790. He was a son of Emperor Francis I and his wife, Empress Maria Theresa, and the brother of Marie Antoinette. Pietro Peiroleri (fl. 1741-1771) Italian printmaker. |
