From 'Naples, and the Campagna Felice, In a Series of Letters: Illustrated by Maps, Plans and numerous coloured Engravings.' (Advertised by Ackermann in September 1816). Map of Capri with a numbered key in the upper left corner to the twelve Villas of Tiberius. E Gullan was an engraver active in the early nineteenth century. He engraved title letters for 'The dramatic works of William Shakespeare', published in 1813 by Thomas Tegg. Rudolph Ackermann (1764-1834) pioneered lithography and produced some of the best early colour printing in Britain, publishing numerous fine illustrated volumes, and magazines. Condition: Crease to upper right corner of sheet. Light overall foxing. |
