Three-quarter length portrait of Maria Anna of Savoy, seated to the right. She wears a plumed bonnet, an silk gown with an elaborate lace shawl, and a wide pearl necklace. Her hands rest in her lap, between which she holds a closed fan. Columns and drapery fill the composition behind. Maria Anna of Savoy (1803 - 1884) was the wife of Emperor Ferdinand I of Austria. Through their marriage, she became Empress of Austria, Queen of Hungary, Bohemia, Lombardy and Venetia. She was also the daughter of Victor Emmanuel I of Sardinia, and his wife Archduchess Maria Teresa of Austria-Este. Ex.
