Inscription below image reads: Lithographed by G.E.Madeley, 3, Wellington St. Strand. MD.CCCXXXVII from the original drawing by the late I.K.Baldry, Cambridge; in the possession of Th Rev.C.Turnor, F.R.A.S & F.S.A. (to whose family, the house at Woolsthorpe, County of Lincoln, in which Newton was born, belongs) From the Statue by Roubilliac, in the Chapel of Trin. Coll. Cambridge. George E. Madeley (1798-1858) was an engraver, lithographer and printer. From c.1824-1829 he was in partnership with Charles Ingrey as "Ingrey & Madeley" thereafter moving to the premises of Sotheby's the auctioneers at 3 Wellington Street. Condition: Creases to corners of sheet, small tears to left and right edges and bottom left corner, stain to extreem top left of sheet, none of which affects the image. |
