A small view of Oxford Castle, from Francis Grose's "The Antiques of England and Wales", published between 1774 and 1787. Richard Bernard Godfrey (b.1728) was a British engraver, chiefly known for his numerous illustrative plates for Francis Grose's "Antiquities of England and Wales". Godfrey specialised in engravings of views, particularly antiquities, though he also produced a small number of portraits. Condition: Good impression with full margins. Slight overall time toning. |
