A fantastic aerial view of central Paris with Notre-Dame Cathedral in the foreground, the river Seine running through the centre and the Arch de Triumph on the horizon. From Henri Charpentier's 'Paris dans sa splendeur' published in 1861. The work consisted of several volumes with descriptions of monuments, views and history of Paris, accompanied with drawings and lithographs. Felix Benoist (1818 -1896) was a French painter, draftsman and printmaker of cities, monuments and landscapes. Condition: Good impression with nice hand colour. Stain from old mount to margins and two pieces of hinging tape to left and right margins, not affecting image. |
