Thomas Gaugain (1756 - c.1810) was a copyist and engraver. Born in Abbeville, France in 1756 he came to London at a young age spending his whole career in England. He entered the Royal Academy Schools in 1771 exhibiting there from 1778-82. James Northcote (1746-1831) was a history and portrait painter, Northcote was also assistant to Sir Joshua Reynolds, 1771-5, and later his biographer. He was known for his dignified portraits in the Reynolds tradition, but also produced grandiose history paintings, many for Boydell's Shakespeare Gallery. Lennox- Boyd ii/iiii Ex. Col.: Hon.
