Plate 16, illustrating various sizes and weights of limerick hook, from A Book on Angling, Being a Complete Treatise on the Art of Angling in Every Branch, by Francis Francis. Francis Francis (1822 - 1886) was a British writer, best known for his works on angling and fish culture. Born in Devon, Francis changed his name at adulthood and originally trained as a civil engineer. His enthusiasm for angling led to his career in sports journalism and writing, as well as his appointment as director of the Brighton Aquarium. Condition: Minor time-toning to edges of sheet.
