Edition of 50 Alex Smart has been printmaking for 15 years and wood engraving for 10 years. He works primarily with the medium of wood engraving, and has received several commissions since finishing his degree in 1998. "I love the challenge of wood engraving, each new engraving throws up new questions. I have to work out how best to make marks in the wood in order to represent any number of objects. I have exhibited with 'The Society of Wood Engravers' several times, winning the Rachel Rickett prize for an engraver under 35' on three occasions". |
