A huntsman stands surrounded by hounds, holding the dead fox in his right hand. Two men are mounted on horses to hi sleft; one of which wipes his brow. From the right, three other followers gallop into view. This print derives from a group of plates depicting a fox-hunt, which were re-published as a set of six by Laurie & Whittle in 1794. The five remaining titles are: 'Unkenneling the Foxhounds; Going to Cover; Digging for the Fox; Making a Cast at a Fault; The Chase.' Siltzer 248 Chaloner Smith undescribed Ex.Col.: Hon. Christopher Lennox-Boyd Condition: repaired teras to all margins, left hand tear just affecting image. |
