Percy Thomas (1844-1922) was a close member of Whistler's circle. He was his first pupil, the son of one of the patrons, Sargeant Ralph Thomas and younger brother of Edmund Thomas, who published Whistler's "Thames Set". A third brother, Ralph, was a partner of Whistler's solicitor. he appears mainly to have done figure subjects, but his topography is excellent. Condition : Tear to left side of sheet not affecting plate or image. |
