A young woman holds a letter in her right hand whilst looking at a token suspended on a ribbon around her neck. She wears a plumed hat, a light gown with a fichu, and dark shawl. The verse below title reads: The lovely Fair with rapture views, This token of their love: Then all her promises renews, And hopes he'll constant prove. George Morland (1763 –1804) was an English painter of animals and rustic scenes. William Ward (1766 - 1826) was an engraver and mezzotinter and the brother of James Ward. He also published prints with his brother, as 'Messrs Ward & Co', April 1800 - April 1804, from James' address, 6 Newman Street. Frankau - William Ward 222, Lennox-Boyd i/i Ex. Col.: Hon.
