CS ENA III 91, O' Donoghue 4 Selina Hastings, Countess of Huntingdon (1707-1791), Friend and benefactor of the Methodist movement. The wife of the ninth Earl of Huntingdon, she was a convert to Methodism and a member of the first Methodist society in Fetter Lane, 1739. A supporter and friend of George Whitefield, she established chapels in London, Bath, Brighton and Tunbridge Wells in an attempt to convert members of the aristocracy to Methodism. |
