Notes A superb view of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford by John Buckler. Self published in his Bermondsey home, Buckler began his series of cathedral views in 1799 and completed them in 1814. The series owes it success to the patronage of many deans and bishops to whom the prints are dedicated including their coats of arms and to UK subscribers. These prints were also sold through regional bookshops.

John Buckler (1770 –1851) was an outstanding architectural draughtsman and Bailiff for Magdalen College's Southwark Estate for sixty years, whose views in Oxford, especially Magdalen College, rank amongst the finest ever produced.
