A panoramic view of the chain of Mont Blanc, Switzerland, taken from Chamounix. The view centres on the glacier of Bois, and the valley of Chamounix. Around the border of the image, the peaks of the range, and the features of the valley are labelled. The view was most likely published in a collection of lithographs of Swiss views, which were very popular as tourist souvenirs in the 1830s to 1860s. Joseph Rose Lemercier (1803-1887) was the founder of the large and very prolific Parisian printer and publisher Lemercier & Cie.
